TICE – Silver Stage by Rachel Phillips, 15, Burnside Business and Enterprise College
I visited the Northern Design Centre for the silver stage of the project “TICE” (This is Creative Enterprise). During this visit I was inspired by many people, especially Alex Davy from Arcus Studios. She gave us lots of advice and seemed to understand and connect with us through her presentation.
The best parts of the silver stage were designing products and our own personal logo, as well as using Photoshop and touring Northumbria University and the Northern Design Centre. I really enjoyed experiencing new things and finding out what it is like having a job in the creative industry – it looks like so much fun!
I learned that there are so many career pathways in the creative industry, and they all seem to link together. All of the different types of designers work together for lots of different projects in order to create one final piece of work. The final results could be anything, from a little children’s toy to a huge blockbuster film. The different jobs all sound quite difficult, but also fun and definitely worth it in the end.
Taking part in the silver stage of TICE has really opened my eyes and made me realise that creativity is all around us. Each and every object in this world has been designed and created by so many different people and have a big story behind them. I never truly understood how much devotion and work people have put in to create and design everyday things that most of take for granted – until I took part in this course.
