Hi, I’m Lee and I am the Creative Enterprise mentor at TICE, joining the team in the Autumn of 2015. I work with TICE students across a range of programmes including the TICE programme (Year 9+), Ladders (17-24 year olds) and Future Business Magnates (FBM) with Business Durham to encourage creative thinking and entrepreneurial ideas with a view to inspire and consider potential enterprise opportunities within the creative and digital industries.
I also help oversee the TICE social media pages Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin through my experience in helping small businesses with their marketing strategies, creating connections and personal enthusiasm for the potential of digital marketing platforms for organisations!
This follows a career spanning 20 years within retail, sales and marketing. Working as a Womenswear Junior Buyer at Debenhams head office, within marketing at North East Lifestyle Magazine and TwinsUK, an associate lecturer in Fashion PR at Northumbria University and managing a large North East team within Jamie Oliver’s direct selling Jamie at Home business.
However, I’m most proud of starting a business ‘Amanda Lee Lingerie & Swimwear’ aged 22 after recognising a gap in the market for specialist products for ladies who had undergone breast surgery. I won several industry awards: Drapers Record, North East Business, Shell Livewire & HSBC and once could have been called a ‘Young Entrepreneur’, even popping down to Buckingham Palace for afternoon tea with the Queen and speaking on behalf of small businesses in the Houses of Parliament!
When I’m not helping people with their entrepreneurial dreams I love walking along our wonderful North East coastline, spending time with my young family and supporting local businesses through the excessive drinking of lattes!
